Colon
Slightly longer than than the average height of a North American female, the colon measures approximately 6 feet long. Connected to the rectum and small intestine, the colon ensures the reabsorption of water as well as the solidifying and storing of stool. The colon is divided into 4 sections: the ascending colon, the transverse colon, the descending colon, and the sigoid colon.
Rectum
Connecting the colon to the anus, the rectum is an 8 inch chamber. Stool is stored here until it is excreted.
